Reuse and Recycle Hub
The Enfield and Port Adelaide Libraries host Recycling Hubs to make it simple and convenient to recycle everyday items. Drop them off next time you visit, and help reduce waste while supporting community initiatives.
What can I recycle?
You can recycle or donate:
Mobile phones
Mobile phones are collected by Ecocycle, where metal, glass, and plastic are separated and recycled into new products or raw materials.
Before recycling your mobile phone at the recycling hub.
1. Erase or remove any data cards
2. Reset your phone to factory settings to remove private information
E-waste
The recycling hub accepts small e-waste items such as * Phone charger cables and plugs * Network devices * Computer mice * Digital watches After collection these items go to recyclers that specialise in separating metals, glass, printed circuit boards, plastic, and hazardous materials. Reusable components are sent to manufactures; other materials are recycled.
CDs and DVDs
CDs and DVDs are shredded and separated into polycarbonate plastic and aluminium. The plastic is reused in products like car parts and electronics, while the aluminium is recycled into new metal items.
X-rays
X-rays will be collected and processed for the recovery of silver, photographs and lithographic film.
Printer cartridges
Collected printer cartridges, toner units, drums, bottles, and other consumables are either refilled by manufacturers or shredded for reuse, including as an additive in road asphalt. Waste ink from machines, screen-printing inks, and ink cartridge packaging (plastic or cardboard) are not accepted.
Batteries
Batteries are collected by Ecobatt, where metals like copper, aluminium, steel, manganese, zinc, lithium, cobalt, and nickel are recovered for reuse in manufacturing, fertiliser and chemical industries.
