It’s easy to join
Read five books or read for five days.

All reading counts!
Every kind of reading can be part of the experience this includes picture books,
novels, comics, magazines, ebooks, audiobooks, shared reading and rereading
favourite books.

Reading supports literacy over the holidays
Regular reading can help children maintain literacy skills, confidence and reading
habits, helping to reduce the impact of the “summer slide”.

Libraries are at the heart of The Big Summer Read
Local libraries offer books, recommendations, activities, welcoming spaces and
support for families.

The challenge is flexible
Children can participate at home, while travelling, at the beach, in the backyard or
during a library visit.
